How do academic tutors for children help them to learn?

We like to use the analogy of a game of Tetris. If you imagine the falling blocks are the knowledge and skills required to move through the curriculum, there is a hierarchy, or a sequence of learning required. For example, you need to be able to hold a pencil before you can write with it. If the learner doesn’t secure information or skills accurately in the foundations of their learning, the blocks don’t fit together, and the gaps leave the learner with missing bits. It’s an old game but a good analogy which certainly fits with the job of an academic tutor.
We get to know your child’s prior learning in order to better understand their learning foundations. If there are gaps, or misconceptions, we work with your child to fill them. Unpicking, understanding, supporting, and guiding to secure their self-esteem and self-belief in their ability to succeed.

How do I choose an academic tutor?

Even before I had learned to teach, I have always had a great enthusiasm for working with children.
Over the years, through the support of amazing mentors, I have been able to gain clarity on how to generate engagement of children by hooking them into their learning and bringing each subject to life, by linking with their passions and learning styles.
