Frequently Asked Questions

What do tutors do?

The role of a tutor is to support and offer guidance upon areas of learning that have been taught in class. This is often in a non-classroom setting or online, which can be of benefit to students that associate schools with negative thoughts. Additionally, a tutor could support students who would like to have further challenge, in order to gain the highest grades and excellence.

At Limitless Learning UK, we like to view our role similarly to a game of Tetris! It is better to fill in the gaps so that the overall levels of comprehension are gained and the learning building blocks stack on top, rather than falling through cracks of misconceptions.

What do private tutors offer?

Within our basic tutoring package, we offer one to one tutoring with a qualified, DBS checked tutor who is an expert in their field. We use our hourly rate to cover: the planning time for the session; any resource is needed, including the use of games; travel costs or online platform subscriptions; the delivering of the lessons as well as access to our bank of online extra-curricular material that can be accessed outside of the lesson time. Furthermore, we are able to provide 10 minutes at the end of each session to discuss what we have covered and the student’s overall progress. All of this is made to each individual student, making sure that it is personalised to their needs.

We always go ‘to infinity and beyond’ for every student where we can. If you would like a more bespoke home-schooling package or revision material, please feel free to ask for more information.

What’s the difference between tutors and teachers?

Although, all of our tutors are qualified teachers, there is a difference between tutors and teachers. Tutors are often there to offer guided support in filling in any prior gaps within learning; to support those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) who find the mainstream classroom a challenging place and/or offer advanced support for those looking to progress towards excellence. Tutors are usually able to gain a deeper knowledge of their students’ needs and iron out any misconceptions that may have been missed in the classroom, due to the sheer number of students in front of the overstretched teacher. By using a blended approach with the support of a tutor, teachers, parents/carers and a positive work rate from the student, it allows for truly wonderful results to be made!

At Limitless Learning UK, we like to offer the support and deeper knowledge of a tutor; combined with our overall formal teaching experience. This helps to ensure we deliver well-structured, engaging and fun learning opportunities to help our students progress further. We would love you to join our Limitless Learning community, please feel free to contact us through our contact form for more information of how we can support you and your family in the future.

Do you need qualifications to be a tutor?

How does this match the Limitless Learning way?

Strictly speaking, no! There are many tutors out there who have not got qualifications specifically related to teaching. A teaching qualification is super important in helping teachers to build a great subject knowledge and overall pedagogical understanding of how to be a magnificent teacher. Nonetheless, our Limitless Learning UK leader (Tash), feels that students benefit most when tutors are able to draw upon their qualifications by ensuring that the lessons can support progress, engagement, positive rewards and behaviour management as well as allowing us to use our teachers’ sixth sense to gauge when to adapt our approach, read subtle signals and build the mindset of our students.

Additionally, all our Limitless Learning tutors are qualified teachers with DBS checks, insurance and partake in regular CPD, including safeguarding training.

Are your tutoring services at Limitless Learning UK face to face or online? Which is the better approach?

At Limitless Learning UK, we offer both face-to-face and online tutoring sessions. We make sure that our creative, game-driven approach is not compromised either way and have seen the positive impact of both of them.

Based upon our free consultation, we will be able to offer guidance as to what we feel would be best based on the child’s overall learning styles and needs. Every child is unique and so we would rather evaluate them on an individual student basis.

Rest assured, however, we have face-to-face tutors that currently cover the Worcestershire, Birmingham, Burnley and Norfolk areas. We are looking to add to these areas over the next few years. If you still would love to work with us or Tash specifically, we also have a wonderful team of online tutors to support you or your child’s needs.

Where will tutoring sessions take place?

Generally speaking, we feel that face-to-face sessions can have benefits taking place in the student’s home. We understand that both students (and parents) have to feel comfortable for successful learning to take place, leading to subsequent progress within their learning. Therefore, a work station/dining area at home can be the perfect place for everyone! However, as I mentioned previously, not every child is the same and some may see the merging of home and school as troublesome. In these cases, our tutors look to set up other arrangements (with the consent of the parents/carers) either by working in a local library; the tutor’s home or even in the school environment. We will be guided by the needs of our students always, even if this approach needs to alter overtime.

Do you work with schools directly to support tuition?

We believe that there are enormous benefits from working together with schools and parents/carers, as initially you all have a better understanding of the students current level, strengths and areas for improvement. We ask your permission before we undertake this process and send introductory emails so that schools know who we are and equally offer support to each other at set intervals.

How much are your rates for tuition?

We pride ourselves at Limitless Learning UK to make sure that we make learning as accessible to all. However, we do understand that, at times, tutoring can have elitist vibes. For this reason, we offer many different options to match a versatile array of financial needs. For example, we have a separate rate for face-to-face and online sessions; adaptable session sizes in the form of an hour or half an hour; group sessions at a reduced rate for each individual and free social media material and giveaways. Again, everything with us is catered to the needs of our community.

Additionally, sessions can be payable in different ways. These include a payment directly after each session, an active standing order or a block-booking which would be forward-paid at the start of the month (this will need to be paid in advance rather than through a back-payment). If for whatever reason a session is unable to be undertaken, as long as appropriate notice has been given, we will be happy to roll the payment over to the next bookable session 😊.

Please get in touch to discuss the best price package for you. If your child is classified as a Pupil Premium student, we may be able to offer charitable support with the connection of your school. Chat to Tash to find out more information of how we can support you, your family or school.

How does a usual session work at Limitless Learning UK?

Our tutors will organise a time that works best for the student’s timetable in advance. We like to ideally make this a consistent slot to make it easier for expectations and for everybody involved. We therefore arrive at the session at the designated time, with our pre-planned lessons that incorporate our authentic twist of creativity, games and personalised learning opportunities. We will make sure to check regularly with the student throughout to make sure they are developing their understanding. After class we put up to 10 minutes aside to feedback to parents/carers so you are kept in the learning loop!

Is it common to get homework to complete away from tutoring?

We are happy to listen to what you would like as a parent/carer to acknowledge your needs as to whether your child requires additional work outside of tuition. We offer every student free access to our online learning environment which has different engaging tasks to support a variety of learning styles and revision needs. As a philosophy, we believe that homework should be given when it is appropriate and productive for consolidation rather than for the sake of it! Nonetheless, we can see the benefits in it alongside maintaining a balance for the child’s wellbeing.

Do you support children with additional learning needs, such as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

This was literally the reason for the birth of Limitless Learning UK. Being a high functioning neurodivergent myself, I understand the important of creating a creative, holistic provision where it supports those who struggle with the current, rigid education system. At Limitless Learning, we understand that every student learns in their own way, which is why we place huge importance on understanding how the student learns from the start. We have found by matching the student’s learning style, using creative methods and learning games demonstrates improved levels of engagement and progression for all, especially those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. All of our teachers are able to support students with additional needs due to being surrounded by those with SEND and SEMH needs professionally and/or personally. We also have a trained SENDCO as part of our team to advise our tutors further.
